Advent - Worship & Thanksgiving. BMBC Sunday Worship Service December 4, 2011

Congratulations to our sisters who have graduated from the Battlefields of the Mind.  We also have our brothers who have attended the Authentic Men Conferences.   Now we are into the second week of Advent.  The sermon is still focused on the theme of Advent - Worship and Thanksgiving and it is delivered by Pastor Ooi Kheng Boon.

You can listen to the sermon here with him giving us a lucky number 595238. It is actually 1 divided by 168 x 100% which is the percentage of one hour we spend weekly sitting at the pew and listening to the sermon on God's Words. The coming of Jesus, what does it mean to us? What is the difference between our life before knowing Christ and after knowing Christ? Is there a significant change?  Let us look into the familiar passage in the book of Galatians Chapter 5 in the Holy Bible which mentioned about Freedom and Liberty. He also explained about Fruit of the Spirit and the nine characteristics.

BMBC English Congregartion Sunday Worship Service on 27 November, 2011

Greetings to all of you.  This posting is the recorded BMBC English Congregation Sunday Worship Service held on November 27, 2011. The theme is on Advent - Worship and Thanksgiving. Sermon was delivered by our Bro. Morgan.  What does Christmas mean to you?  Christmas = Christ + Mass? Or X'mas = No Christ but one Mass?  We have faith in God and God abide in us but often we have trusted God and also have our backup plan to be self-sufficient.  God is our provider.  It is this time of the year that children will ask us, parents, for gifts and wife will also expect it from the husband. Husbands, from who, and what will you ask for this Christmas?  We need to look to God.  The way we live our life is a testimony of our fate in God.  Why God send salvation in this manner where the story of Mary and Joseph obeying God and the birth of Jesus and His unconditional love for us. The Word became flesh.  Jesus is Love and is vulnerable for us and we are also vulnerable as we follow Him and live and lead our life in this world.  We are the temple of God and He is ever presence in our midst. Let us open our door to Jesus Christ and invite the living God to dwell in us .

We wish all the best to the students who are taking their examinations this time of the year.

Being Families In Christ - BMBC Sunday Worship Service October 23, 2011

We are pleased to have Pastor Clement Chong from the Penang Baptist Theological Seminary (BTS) to be with us again to bring us the faith building sermon on the theme of Being Families In Christ.  He  reminded that BMBC with the mission on Being Internally Strong and Externally Focus Church have a great passion to be a Church impacting the local community and our society through the Voice of God and His Words through this imperfect preaching.

He shared with us on the Holy Bible verses from 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 and gave us the backdrop on Apostle Paul called by the Lord to serve as he journeyed and inspired by God to write the scriptures on his challenging life with a thorn in the flesh.  He hope that the BMBC will learn from the context in the family and apply it in our challenges and difficulties and move on in our lives. We do have our own "thorns in the flesh" in our own home, our marriage, our family and challenges and difficulties in our life. It is the same principles that apply to our church family, workplace family, own family, students family and so on.  We are to endear ourselves to the Word of God and to connect people and family with love. We have hurts, been betrayed and have our baggage and fears to love again.  We dare not love again and the church become hypocrite. When God allowed thorn in our flesh, He has great plan for us. He wants us to experience Him and the presence of God.

Pastor Clement gave us an awesome yet wonderful and powerful power-point presentation on "simple mathematical equations" which he explained in depth and an insight into the thorn in the flesh which we can learn and apply it in our daily living experience and to be involved in our community.

The equation 1 + 1 = 1 is may be like a situation of a thorn to a maths teacher for we all know the mathematical answer is incorrect.or is like a husband and wife relation where the husband is no longer that romantic.  God want us to change ourselves. We always point to others instead of ourselves. With the equation change to 1 x 1 = 1, we multiply and magnify the grace and power of God given to us.

11 - 1 = 1 as in the Roman letters, we have to learn to look beyond our cultures, language, experience and values at looking at things minus our prides.  He wants us to have faith in prayers to change ourselves as He will pray and walk with us.  We decreased in pride and He increased and magnified. People do not appreciate us and we gave up but God wants us to magnify his grace and power.

1- 1 =/= 1 is a correct equation but the end part is a wrong answer(mathematically 1 minus 1 is zero).  We should look at the whole and big picture.  God's plan is perfect and nothing wrong.  We may pray and hope for a "yes"and our prayer is answered with a "No".  God has His timing and plan. We learned to accept the thorn. Step back and learn to accept and thank God for when I am weak, I am strong.  He shared with us his personal thorn in the flesh and he has understood God's equation and has accepted God's blessings and His Grace is sufficient for him. We want the presence of God but we are not enjoying His presence.  Inside the church, we need You, but outside the church, my study room, my computer, my business... is not for you.
It is not nice for you to be here.

1=1=1.  We are not looking at Christ. We are looking at what we want Christ to do! We are expecting Him to work the way we want. We are not looking at God  Himself who He is. The problem or thorn is still there but God is here presence with us. Read 2 Corinthians 12:9.

= - - = -.  Do you understand the equation?  We have to look at it in the Chinese written equation of two minus one equal one.  Do you know why sometimes we do not understand God at work? We do not understand God's heart language to us. Marriages, husband and wife, family, parents and children have problems because we do not understand them from their perspectives. The principle never time but the form is time by change. We have to think anew with a new mindset, a new language, a new culture and all the sleeping strokes/sticks of the numbers lying down ,then we can understand. In the hand of God, even in the weaknesses, we can boast of God because in the presence of God, God's power is make perfect in our weaknesses.

1 + 1 = 1 in God's blueprint for marriage, one man and one woman united in marriage, God said the two shall become one.  So the formula is correct from God's perspective.  Wow...a perfect plan from God ya.

Like us, you can be encouraged by Pastor Clement Chong through his sermon here and posted on You Tube.

The thorn/s in us is/are not removed but learn from this simple mathematics formulas to help us re-focus. We learn to look at situation from God's perspective and accept the differences.

God Bless.

Shinning As Stars -Pastoral Sunday October 16, 2011

A church is simply you and me, where we have our common Christian belief and faith, and we congregate at venue or place regularly Sundays after Sundays at a determined designated time at our worldly convenient hours to worship God and to study God's Words and to be enlightened in the Spiritual sovereign and be encouragement to one another. It could be a place made of a physical building constructed with intricate designs where rows of pews, red carpeted aisles laid, crosses or ethereal pictures hanging on the walls or scriptures inscribed on the pillars, and the musical instruments like the harp or grand piano and guitars where the believer of Christ go to worship like believers of other faiths going to their temples, mosques and shrines to offer prayers. Is that all?  It is too simplified a definition.

Who else do we associate with a church?  Caretaker, Gardeners, Ushers, Musicians, Deacons, Lay Leaders, Seminary students, monks, pastors, reverends, cardinals, bishops, the Pope?  Right, we are a community of like mindedness in Spiritual and faith but we need teachers, preachers and  leaders to guide and lead us like sheep need our Shepherd, Lord Jesus Christ.  BMBC as the famously acronym for the Malay language " Banyak Makan, Bankyak Cakap" or literally translated into English as "Eat Much, Talk Much".  We are blessed as we have three Pastors in our midst and their families to shepherd our souls.

We have a Pastoral Sunday to appreciate our Pastors and their families for their roles in our church and their love, care and sacrifices and for sharing our burdens for Christ in our local community.  BMBC had invited Reverend Canon Fred David of St. Paul Church, Petaling Jaya on that day to speak to us. He brought tremendous experience with him in serving the Lord at various parts of the country, in particular at East Malaysia, where he can speak multiple languages and dialects of the local communities.  He can preach in Mandarin, Hakka and two Sabah tribal lingo, Dusun and Sungai.

We were blessed by his sermon and his testimonies. Briefly, leadership is spiritual. Pastors are not just working on Sundays and rest the rest of the weeks.  They are called to conduct marriages for the happy couples, prayer blessings for the joyful dedications of new births, homes and offices, but also to render help and assistance to the less privileged besides prayers for the weak and sicks; not the least, conducting services at wakes and funerals on the solemn occasions of sudden deaths of members of the community at short notices or suddenly on their supposedly off days at odd hours and far, far away from his own family.  For the love of Christ and the Gospel, the pastors and reverends are living their outstanding, trusting and obedient lives to bring the joy of the Word to every corner of the world as God commanded and willingly give it for one another. God loves sinners who repent.

You can listen to and watch him at our recorded Sunday Worship Service here in Bukit Mertajam Baptist Church, Penang, Malaysia. We were humbled and honored as he preached to us specifically on the epistle of the Apostle Paul to the Philippians Church, Holy Bible verses Philippians 2: 12-18. We record our heartfelt appreciations and love for Reverend Canon Fred David, our BMBC Pastoral team and all the other Pastors who have been with us in the past, present and in future.  Our prayers and His Peace be with all of you and May God Bless You Graciously and Richly in His Kingdom.

Sushi King & BMBC Kids & Children from Sharma Home, Bukit Mertajam

On Saturday 29 October, 2011, BMBC Kids have a wonderful time with their friends from Sharma Home sharing an outing at Sushi King outlet at Auto-City, Juru, Penang.  There were about 35 children enrolled for the the Sushi Making Class '11.

The Manager, Mr Eric made a brief introduction of his company and colleagues and outline the program for the day.  The kids learned some Japanese words such as "Welcome-Irasshaimasse", "Good Morning - Ohayou","Thank You-Arigatou","Rice Tub - Hungiri", "Rice Paddle - Shamoji" and "Seaweeds- Nori".

The children had their hands on coaching by the chef on how to to make the four types of sushi.  There were great excitements as the children had competitions in the making the best sushi.  The winners took home the sushi and cash vouchers.

What a joy and blessing to see the children smiling and laughing as they enjoyed their time together with their new friends and the lesson on sushi making.  Our appreciation to the management and staff of Sushi King, Auto-City, Juru, Penang, Sharma Home, the kids and guardians, our BMBC Ladies Fellowship members who were there to ensure the smooth organization of the children event and their own gathering at the Subway outlet next-door.
 God Bless.

BMBC Sunday Worship Service October 2, 2011

BMBC theme for the September and October 2011 is Being Families in Christ.  We regret there were no video recordings throughout the month of September but audio recordings were recorded as usual.

BMBC had a special seminar on family in September and were honored to have Pastor Clement Chong from the BTS to share his wisdom and God's Words with families, especially parents who enrolled for the one day seminar.

The sermon for the Sunday 2nd October, 2011 was presented by Pastor Ooi Kheng Boon.  He clarified that Being Families In Christ is not just about focus on the family but rather focus for your family in Christ.  He shared with us on the holy bible verses from the book of 1 Corinthians 4: 14-21(Here). He mentioned of Apostle Paul's urging us to imitate him and to be Christ like.  Let us parents be role models for our children so that they grow up in our family to be more Christ -like. Children are given to us and are directly under our control.  Let us be their spiritual father too and exercise our authority as Christ has loved us and shown us as in the gospel.

None of us are perfect.  We have to be honest with our children and not be hypocrite. An example, as parent, we may ask the child to Do What I Say But Do Not Do What I Do.  We have to have the authenticity and earn the respect.  There should not be hypocrisy.  Sometimes, we may need help from someone outside the family as we look at the verse 1 Corinthians 4:17.  Quoting" One such scenario is like our kids who sometimes need us to tell them to stop doing this or that or our Aunt Rose will come". It is a blessing to have someone or our friend to help share our burden to guide our children so as to bring them up and lead a Christ-like lives.

We need to be involved directly in the lives of our children so that we can strengthen our families.  Life is full of uncertainties and is short.  We have to spend not only quality time with our children and family but also need quantity of time with them.

You can follow on the sermon recorded here and uploaded on You Tube.

Thank you and credit to BibleGateway.Com for the link to the bible verses for our study and references.

Sunday Worship Service July 17, 2011 - Stewardship, Being Good and Faithful Servants

Shalom. This is another week where Pastor Ooi Kheng Boon is sharing on the sermon on the topic of Stewardship, Being Good and Faithful Servant.  He reminds us on the four 'T's.  The four 'T's are : Time, Talent, Treasure and Temple.  How we manage and use the special gifting that God have given us. Stewardship of our character and our vocation.  How we spend the resources.  God has given us dominions over everything that He has created around us. Let us look in, look out and also look up.  Look in means we examine ourselves and know what God has bless us with that we can use and be good steward of it.  It is not a matter of using what we are blessed with for our self-indulgence. Then look out means looking around us as to how we can use it to help and for the benefits of others around us so that we can look up and give Glory to God.

Sunday Worship Service July 10, 2011 - Stewardship. Being Good And Faithful Servants

Greetings to you. Brother Eddy and some cell group members recently visited some of our brethren at the Orang Asli Settlement in Perak with the coordination by our brother Jana where they headed for the Headman, Brother Basuda's house and thereafter joined them on a walking tour of the local community. They brought some cheers to the families there with some donations in the form of foodstuffs and cash to purchase some hardware and raw materials at the nearby local shops to repair some of the residents houses.

Here is the second segment of the sermons on the theme Stewardship, Being Good & Faithful Servants delivered by Pastor Vincent Liew.  He helps us to have a greater understanding of God's call for us to be a good steward. Everything that we have is by the grace of God. Grace of God is like God doing something for us that we cannot do for ourselves and yet not charging us anything. Also, God's grace is when God is taking side with us when He should be against us. Jesus intercede for you and I.  Let us look at the book of Romans Chapter 8. God bless.

Stewardship - Being Good And Faithful Servants. Sunday Worship Service held on July 3, 2011

Stewardship.  Being Good and Faithful Servants. Let us examine the Holy Bible book Luke Chapter 16. The owner of everything is God while we are custodian. We have to be shrewd or wise. Sermon by Pastor Ooi Kheng Boon.

BMBC Sunday Worship Service - Spiritual Warfare, Living Biblically

Shalom. This is the final segment on the theme of Spiritual Warfare, Living Biblically.  The sermon was delivered by Pastor Ooi Kheng Boon.

The devil is not the main problem.  It is about biblical living.  Reference is made to the Holy Bible book of James Chapter 4 verse 7 and the Chapter 3 verses 14-15.  The book of 1 Peter Chapter 5 verse 6 to verse 8 and verse 11.  Devotion to God and walking faithfully before God.  Our hope is in Jesus Christ.  God has dominion over us. Ephesians Chapter 6 verse 10-18.We need to put on the full armor of God. We do not battle with flesh and blood but against the rulers, the authorities, the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  We need to be strong in the Lord and intimacy with the Lord. Pray at all time in the Spirit and with all kinds of prayers and requests.
