Sunday Worship Service on June 12, 2011. Sermon on Spiritual Warfare, Living Biblically by Pastor Vincent Liew

Greeting to you.  Here is another exciting sermon on the theme Spiritual Warfare and Living Biblically.  This time, Pastor Vincent Liew is sharing with us about the word devoted and its meaning as found in dictionaries.  He mentioned that the key word is our devotion to God which is what the enemy wants to draw it away from us. There are consequences in a battle.  The enemy comes in subtle way. What is the issue before us.  What areas of our life are affected.

Three areas on contention for our devotion to God.  Firstly is on our trust and obedience, secondly, sacrificing and surrendering and thirdly on compromise. Let us begin to look at Holy Bible on God's Words in Genesis Chapter 2 verses 15-17on Adam and Eve. They do not have role models or counselors to refer to or books of reference to turn to like us today where we have the bible, because they are the first humans God created.  They have to listen to God.  Next we look at Genesis Chapter 3 verses 1-5. We are to obey God or we tend to justify our action by misinterpreting God's Words. It is not about how much we know about the Words of God but how much we obey God and trust Him.

The choices we made have good and bad consequences. Look at Genesis Chapter 3 verses 14-17.Do we trust every Words of God?  We zealously proclaiming the promises of God but we rarely proclaim the commandments of God. Let us refer to Exodus Chapter 24 verse 12. On Abraham's devotion to God, we look at Genesis chapter 22 where Abraham were to sacrifice his only son, Isaac which God has given to him and bored by his wife, Sarah at an old age.  We learned that Abraham was obeying God and trusting Him and God blessed him and his descendants abundantly. When our devotion to God is challenged especially in our present day living, we often tend to compromise our obedience and trust in God's Words and failing to uphold biblical living of our lives.  Let us repent for our compromised positions and look to God and to obey Him, trusting His Words and commandments. Be devoted to Him.

Hope you are blessed by God and the sharing of His Words.
