On the topic of Spiritual warfare, it is not Satan or what we are doing against him to win or confronting Satan. It is also not about rebuking and binding the demon. It is about biblical living our lives. Most of us might have heard of generational curse. A generational curse meant that you are punished for what your ancestor had done in the past. This can be traced to history in 1906 where there was the Pentecostal movement which was termed as the first wave. In 1960's, it was the charismatic movement. Then in the 1980's and 1990's there were several renown preachers and writers who consisted the third wave when they taught us on renouncing and rebuking the sins of our forefather for what they had done in the past that brought the generational curse upon us. We were taught to pray the prayers to renounce it and to break the bondage. Is this scriptural?
Let us explore this matter with an open mind as we look closely as the Hebrew word for inequities. We look into the scriptures on the holy bible at the book of Exodus Chapter 20 verses 5 and 6, sin of idolatry and Exodus Chapter 34 on the Ten Commandments. Then in the books of Numbers Chapter 14 verse 18 and Deuteronomy Chapter 5 verses 9, 10 and so on. Other references made on the book of Ezekiel Chapter 18 and Jeremiah Chapter 31 verse 29" In those days people will no longer say, The fathers have eaten our sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge. Verse 30 Instead, everyone will die for his own sin, whoever eats sour grapes- his own teeth will be set on edge. Who is the one who is laying the curse on you? If it is God, let us deal with Him directly. We look at the New Testament and Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. reference is made to Galatians 3:13. There is only one curse that is being made from one generation to generation for what is known a Adamic curse as we examine the book of Genesis Chapter 3 verse 6. All succeeding generation and all humanity has been cursed. The wage of sin is death. We also look at 2 Corinthians Chapter 5 verses 17-19.Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconcialiation; that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation (NIV). Repentance for our sin and for our own life. It is not about renouncing of our forefather's sin. It is about repentance for our own life that is not right with God, our faith in Christ and following Him.
May God bless you richly.
